*Anupam Kher's Tanvi The Great 'A Must- Watch', says Indian Army Chief, General Upendra Dwivedi at the special screening.*
It's not very often that one hears the Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army recommending a movie to his officers and their families. At the special screening of the soon-to-be-released film, Tanvi The Great, directed by the globally renowned actor, Anupam Kher, Army Chief, General Upendra Dwivedi, appreciated the film for realistically depicting the softer side of those who wear the uniform.
The special screening was held for Army Officers and their families at the plush PVR ECX, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. It was a packed house with the audience showering their love by giving standing ovation to Kher and his team.
General Dwivedi also added that while he had always been an admirer of Kher's unparalleled ability to portray a wide variety of characters since Saraansh, he was also mighty impressed by debutant Shubhangi, who plays the titular role of Tanvi Raina, an autistic girl, who dreams of joining the Indian Army.
In this heart touching tale Kher has dealt with the sensitive subject of autism with a lot of tenderness and compassion. The film not only moved even the tough army officers to tears, but also evoked a lot of amusing smiles.
The film delivers a powerful, socially relevant message of courage, determination and the power of good heartedness. That is why General Dwivedi recommend that Tanvi The Great be screened in every cantonment and it truly deserves to be a must-watch.
While accepting the appreciation and applause with moist eyes, Kher called the screening as the biggest reward of his 40-year long career. He called the appreciation received from General Dwivedi and all the army officers as well as their families, as the greatest experience of his life. "I have the highest regards for the armed forces right from my formative years," said Kher. He added, "This film is my tribute and salute to our army. The film is made with soul and not just craft. I approached it like a soldier, i may had not had all the ammunition, but I stood at the front determined to see the film come to light despite roadblocks. I am deeply humbled by the love and appreciation the Army Chief and fellow army officers have showered on the film."
Film's lead actor, Shubhangi was the centre of attraction. Anupam Kher also presented his book "Different But No Less" to the Army Chief his latest motivational book which encapsulates the entire journey of the film.
The film features an exceptional ensemble cast from Indian and international cinema, including Jackie Shroff, Arvind Swami, Boman Irani, Pallavi Joshi, Karan Tacker, Nassar, with Anupam Kher, and Iain Glen.
